Complete darkness and a soft fabric on your eyelids: silk leaves no marks on your skin when you wake and doesn't pull on your hair.
Your brain doesn't look at the time, it looks at the light. The glow of a street lamp behind the curtain and melatonin hits pause. That is often all that separates a broken night from a full one. A silk sleep mask removes that stray signal in a second.
But not all sleep masks are equal. Then there is what touches your skin for eight hours. The skin of your eye area is 0.5 mm thick; it is the thinnest area of the face. Polyester rubs, heats up and drinks your night-time skincare. Not so mulberry silk, which glides: nothing pulls, nothing leaves a mark, and in the morning your eye area still has what you gave it the night before.
Silk glides over your eyelid instead of pulling on it, with every eye movement of the night. Eight hours less tugging on the thinnest skin of the face means fewer fine sleep lines when you wake up.
Mulberry silk doesn't absorb your eye cream or your serum. They stay on your skin all night, right where you applied them, instead of disappearing into the fabric as they do with a cotton mask.
The shape is hollowed out over the eyelids: your eyes move freely during the phases of REM sleep, with no pressure at all. That is the difference between a contoured silk sleep mask and a simple band laid across the face.
On a plane, the lights never really go out. Windows, screens, service lighting: all night long your brain gets the signal that it is daytime. A mulberry silk sleep mask brings darkness in a second, weighs less than 20 g and slips into the smallest pouch. A silk travel mask costs you neither space nor weight in your cabin bag.
You put the mask on, the cabin goes dark. Your melatonin kicks back in, your jet lag passes more easily.
A proper nap on the move, without catching anyone's eye.
The curtains are never opaque enough. Your sleep mask, on the other hand, is.
Night shifts, a flipped sleep schedule, migraines: your sleep mask gives you complete darkness even when it is broad daylight outside.
Silk doesn't rub, so you can wear your silk sleep mask for eight hours with no marks when you wake up. 100% mulberry silk, long-fibre Grade 6A, certified OEKO-TEX® Standard 100.
Satin is a weave, not a material. The vast majority of masks sold as "satin" are made of 100% synthetic polyester : the shiny look is there, the properties of silk are not. Polyester generates static electricity, heats up in summer and absorbs your eye-area skincare. Grade 6A mulberry silk contains 18 natural amino acids, naturally regulates temperature and creates no friction on the eyelid. The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification guarantees the absence of harmful substances on the most sensitive area of your face.
Yes. The skin of your eye area is the thinnest on the body, 0.5 mm thick, and the first to show the marks of night-time friction. The smooth surface of Grade 6A silk creates no resistance on the eyelid during the eye movements of the night. Your skincare stays active until morning because silk doesn't absorb it, unlike cotton. After a few weeks, you see fewer fine sleep lines and fewer under-eye bags when you wake up.
Yes. Our sleep mask is cut from an opaque mulberry silk, in 22 momme, for complete blackout. The shape, hollowed out over the eyelids, keeps it perfectly in place with no pressure on the eyes. It is what you need if you are sensitive to light, if you work nights, if you travel a lot or if you get migraines.
That is actually its ideal use. A silk travel mask weighs less than 20 g, squashes down into any pouch and copes perfectly with the conditions of a flight: dry air, cabin lighting, movement. Mulberry silk is thermoregulating, staying cool even in an overheated cabin, where a polyester mask becomes uncomfortable after two hours.
Yes, it is actually the first material recommended for reactive skin around the eyes. Grade 6A mulberry silk is naturally antibacterial, resistant to dust mites and certified OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 : no chemical allergens in the fabric, dyes or finishes. If you have eye allergies, eczema around the eyes or rosacea, or if you wear contact lenses, it is the safest material to have in contact with your eyes during the night.
By hand, in lukewarm water, with a gentle detergent made for silk. Machine washing is possible at 30°C on a delicate cycle, in a laundry bag. Dry in the open air and in the shade, never in a tumble dryer. Plan to wash it every 3 days : the mask stays in direct contact with the skin of your eye area all night. With this care, it will last you 2 to 3 years.
