All our silk duvet covers are made from 100% OEKO-TEX® certified Grade 6A mulberry silk and come in 3 sizes to fit every bed.
The mulberry silk duvet cover turns your bedding into a genuine overnight beauty treatment. 100% OEKO-TEX® certified Grade 6A mulberry silk — the only range available in up to 30 Momme for unrivalled softness and durability. Thermoregulating, hypoallergenic, zero friction — available in 140x200 and 200x200 cm.
Most silk duvet covers sold in France are 19 Momme — a light weight that is comfortable in summer but shows its limits with washing and heavy use. Swoone is the only French brand to offer a Grade 6A silk duvet cover in up to 30 Momme, the weight found in palace hotels and international luxury hospitality.
You can feel the difference straight away: 30 Momme silk is completely opaque, with a density close to premium linen and a structured drape you won't find anywhere else in this category. And contrary to popular belief, a denser silk is no warmer in summer — mulberry silk is naturally thermoregulating, whatever its thickness.
Momme is the unit of weight for silk: the higher it is, the denser, more durable and more structured the fabric. For a duvet cover, the recommended minimum weight is 22 Momme. Below that, the fabric lacks body over a large surface and wears prematurely at the seams.
| Weight | Density | Ideal for | Durability | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 22 Momme | ~60 g/m² | Everyday use, all seasons | 3 to 4 years | On request |
| 25 Momme | ~68 g/m² | Dry skin, frequent washing | 4 to 5 years | On request |
| 30 Momme Premium | ~82 g/m² | Luxury, long-term investment | 5 years or more | View product |
Mulberry silk is the only textile fibre that is naturally thermoregulating over such a large surface. Unlike cotton, which absorbs heat and perspiration, silk actively regulates body temperature — it keeps you cool in summer and retains warmth in winter without the stifling effect of polyester. That is why doctors who specialise in sleep disorders recommend it to people who suffer from night-time hot flushes.
A lot is said about the benefits of silk pillowcases for the face and hair. A silk duvet cover extends those benefits to the whole body. People who sleep on their side — the vast majority — have their arms, shoulders and legs in direct contact with their duvet. Grade 6A silk eliminates all that night-time friction across a surface 140 to 200 cm wide.
Mulberry silk is naturally resistant to dust mites and mould with no chemical treatment — an intrinsic property of the silk fibre. OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification guarantees the absence of harmful substances in the fabric, dyes and finishes. For allergy sufferers or people with reactive skin, it is the safest bedding there is.
Your body oil, body cream and moisturisers stay on your skin all night — mulberry silk is naturally hydrophobic and does not absorb cosmetic active ingredients. On cotton, up to 30% of your skincare can be absorbed by the fabric in a single night.
Grade 6A is the highest classification in the global silk industry. It guarantees threads of 1,000 to 1,300 metres with no breaks, no knots and no irregularities. It is this grade that determines the real quality of the fabric — not the marketing, not the price.
The vast majority of silk duvet covers sold in France — including those from the best-known competitors — do not specify the grade of their silk. Some display "Grade A" (which actually corresponds to the lowest grade), others use "mulberry silk" with no documented certification at all. At Swoone, Grade 6A is certified across the entire range, with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 to guarantee the absence of any harmful chemical treatment.
Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle, with a gentle detergent free from enzymes and bleach and a light spin (600 rpm maximum). Dry flat or hang to dry in the shade — never tumble dry. For a 200x200 duvet cover, make sure you have enough drying space. Ironing is optional: slightly damp, at a low temperature (silk setting), inside out. The 30 Momme Grade 6A silk duvet cover keeps its softness and its properties for 5 years or more with this care routine.
Recommended washing: every 2 to 3 weeks with daily use — mulberry silk is naturally antibacterial and needs washing less often than cotton.

A minimum of 22 Momme for a duvet cover — below that, the fabric lacks body over a large surface and wears prematurely at the seams. 25 Momme for dry skin or frequent washing. 30 Momme for absolute luxury and durability of more than 5 years. Contrary to popular belief, a higher Momme does not mean a warmer silk — thermoregulation is an intrinsic property of the fibre, independent of weight.
No — quite the opposite. Mulberry silk is naturally thermoregulating: it actively regulates your body temperature and keeps you cool in summer and winter alike. It is recommended by sleep specialists for people who suffer from night-time hot flushes. It is one of the best-documented properties of mulberry silk, linked to its natural protein structure.

Satin is not a material — it is a type of weave. Most of the "satin" covers sold at low prices are 100% synthetic polyester. They have a shiny look similar to silk but none of its biological properties: zero thermoregulation, zero amino acids, a build-up of static electricity and rapid deterioration in the wash. Always insist on "100% mulberry silk" with documented Grade 6A and OEKO-TEX® certification.
Yes — in fact, it is one of the recommendations allergists make most often. Grade 6A mulberry silk is naturally resistant to dust mites and mould with no chemical treatment. Certified OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, it contains no chemical allergens. For people with respiratory allergies, eczema or atopic dermatitis, it is the most suitable bedding.
