Your cotton pillowcase absorbs your skincare and breaks your hair.

Mulberry silk doesn't. 19 Momme is our lightest weight: fluid, cool to the touch, ideal if you get hot at night or if this is your first silk pillowcase. The same Grade 6A long fibres as the 22 Momme, the same benefits for your hair and skin. OEKO-TEX certified.

From the very first morning for your hair. Run your hand through it and it will be smooth, without the usual bird's nest at the back of your head. It's immediate because it's mechanical: cotton catches every strand each time you move your head, silk lets it glide.

For your skin, give it two to three weeks. That's how long it takes for pillow creases to stop setting back in night after night.

Night 1. Tangle-free hair when you wake up, no more marks on your cheek.
Week 2. Your night-time skincare is still there in the morning, instead of having been soaked up by your pillowcase.
Week 4. Less breakage along your lengths, and those little broken hairs around your face stop multiplying.
Week 8. This is the real point at which to judge. Hair grows one centimetre a month, skin renews itself in 28 days. That's why our trial lasts 100 nights and not 30.

A silk pillowcase is the simplest step in your evening routine. Your skincare works all night, your pillowcase decides how much of it is left by morning. It's the step that protects everything else for eight hours, with no cream to apply and not a minute more in the bathroom. Once you've slept on it, there's no going back to cotton.

Yes, and that's not a sales line. Silk doesn't act on one hair type, it acts on two things everyone has to put up with: friction and absorption.

Curly or coily hair. This is where the difference is most striking. Your curls are no longer crushed against the fabric, definition lasts two or three nights, and your evening pineapple is still doing its job in the morning.

Coloured hair. Less friction along your lengths, so your colour stays vibrant for longer between appointments.

Fine or flat hair, or hair that gets greasy quickly. Nothing to worry about. Silk doesn't weigh hair down and adds no oil.

Sensitive or reactive skin. A smooth, non-absorbent fibre, and our fabric is certified to class I, the category intended for anything that touches babies' skin.

Blemish-prone skin. Cotton stores sebum, dust and your skincare, then presses it all back onto your face for eight hours. Silk absorbs almost nothing, so the surface stays cleaner from one night to the next. It doesn't treat your blemishes, it stops contributing to them.

What silk does, it does every night, with no effort on your part. It absorbs almost nothing, so your serum and your cream stay where you put them. It doesn't pull on your skin, so morning creases fade instead of setting in. Your routine already takes care of the rest very well. Silk simply gives it eight more hours to work.

Is it really genuine silk? keyboard_arrow_down

It's the question everyone asks, and it's a fair one: the market is full of polyester satin sold as silk.

Momme measures the weight of the weave. The higher it is, the denser, more opaque and stronger the silk. This isn't a marketing detail: it's what stops it turning see-through after twenty washes.

You don't have to take our word for it. Our fabric is certified OEKO-TEX Standard 100, class I, the strictest level of the standard. The certificate is public and can be checked in one click: view the certificate on oeko-tex.com

Number 26.HCN.36562, issued by Hohenstein Laboratories in Germany, valid until 30 June 2027, scope "100% mulberry silk fabric".

And when it arrives, check for yourself. Lay your hand on it: real silk feels cool at first touch, then warms up within a few seconds, while polyester feels lukewarm straight away. Watch it move in the light: silk's sheen shifts with the angle, polyester shines with a flat, uniform gloss. Weigh it in your hand: our 50x70 weighs around 135 g.

If anything leaves you unconvinced, the 100-night trial applies, no questions asked.

19 momme silk

We answer your questions

Everything we get asked most often before ordering. A question that isn't here? Write to us, we reply quickly.

What is “momme”?

It's the unit that measures the density of silk, a bit like thread count for cotton. The higher the number, the denser and more durable the fabric. 19 momme is the serious entry-level option: real mulberry silk, fluid and light, perfect for discovering the fabric.

19 or 22 momme, which one should I choose?

The 19 momme is lighter, more supple and lovely if you like an airy drape — and it's the best value for money for a first try.

The 22 momme is denser, more opaque and harder-wearing over time. It's our benchmark for intensive daily use. The hair and skin benefits are the same: it's mostly a question of feel and longevity.

Does it really do anything for my hair?

Silk has a much smoother surface than cotton: your hair glides instead of rubbing. The result: less frizz when you wake up, less breakage along the lengths, and a hairstyle that holds better from one day to the next. Silk also absorbs far less moisture than cotton, so your night-time treatments stay on your hair, not in the pillow.

And what about skin?

Less friction, so fewer pillow creases when you wake up and less micro-tugging on delicate areas. Silk stays cool and breathable, which is welcome if you have reactive skin or get hot at night.

Which size should I choose?

Three sizes available:

  • 50 x 70 cm — the French standard, the one 8 out of 10 customers choose.
  • 65 x 65 cm — the square format, common with older bedding.
  • 40 x 60 cm — the compact or spare pillow.

The easiest way: measure your current pillow, or check the label on your pillowcase.

How do I wash it?

Machine wash on a delicate cycle at 30 °C, in a laundry bag, with a gentle detergent. No fabric softener, no bleach. Air dry in the shade — never tumble dry. Iron on a cool setting on the reverse side if needed. Cared for like this, it will last you for years.

Where does your silk come from?

From the Suzhou region, in Jiangsu — the historic capital of silk, where most of the world's mulberry silk comes from. It's a craft that goes back several centuries, and it's where the best workshops are found. Our silk is Grade 6A, the highest grading level for mulberry threads, and certified OEKO-TEX Standard 100 : no substances harmful to the skin.

Swoone is a French brand: selection, quality control, customer service and shipping are managed from France.

Is it real silk, not satin?

Real mulberry silk, 100%. The “satin” sold cheaply is almost always polyester in a satin weave: it shines, but it doesn't breathe and has none of the benefits of silk. Our OEKO-TEX certification and Grade 6A guarantee the material.

What if I don't like it?

You have a 100-night trial. Sleep on it, really put it to the test. If it isn't right for you, we'll sort it out — write to us and a real person will reply.

Do you have an offer at the moment?

Yes: choose your bundle directly on this page: 2 pillowcases (-10%) or buy 3 pillowcases and get the 4th free (-25%). It's the most popular choice — one pillowcase in the wash, one on the pillow.
